All of a sudden happiness can be considered a non-starter, a petty high. Then it becomes easier to resist the kinds of insubstantial hedonia and indulgences that are like feeding a bottomless pit, and attention can be turned to this or that intensive project.

I mean collapsing the distinction between positive emotion and negative emotion. Joy and ecstasy pumping the handcar on the track of samsara.

I mean the lethargy and the meaninglessness. Desaturate/defang them and integrate them into an indifferent and metastable framework of pragmatic dialectics. I'm afraid the conceptually heavy stuff is useful for this kind of bootstrapping, provided one can connect such concepts to their mundane...

It just seems to make easier things I once saw no end to. Now the endlessness is more manageable. But there's always headroom to optimize into.

And this militant compartment of your ego can go about willing itself into more rigorous meditative practices, intellectual practices, body exercise, etc. without getting totalitarian and irreversible. Actually, for me it subsides sheerly from exhaustion, until the muscles recuperate.

The pits, sure. Unfortunately, the proven means of exiting the pit involves a kind of stoicism, no? A sort of militant and pragmatic pain-taking?

Imagine a future, even an unlikely one, wherein a significant body of the populous derives revenue for being human subjects for this or that scientific thesis. Or perhaps that could be accomplished with a social credit system, by which point social credit could effectively serve as a sort of...

So there would be a kind of indifferent and pragmatic self-flagellating as a deterrent from such suboptimal expenditures of libidinal potential. Guilty for feel mindless. Negative feedback, circuits which can be consciously bootstrapped into different arrangements.

But there could potentially be relatively abrupt political measures here or there that may dial up free time levels. My point is that it would be a more economically easy transition if people were passionately driven to optimize society in extenuating and substantial ways. Rather than everyone...

I think one major caveat of any prospect of increased free time will be increasingly meaningless activity, activity that will drain the libidinal potential.

We gotta move through this though, this phase of techno-feudalism. The alternatives are either the destruction of the uberwealthy or the abrupt communization of the uberwealthy, and I won't bet on either of those. So what kind of strategies and sensibilities are best suited for this contingency?
