NOUGHTIES 'NUUM POLL - Dissensus top 30 garage/grime/dubstep/funky/bassline tracks

Just finished listening to this - good work! Some of the stylistic switches are quite eye opening, yes. Listening to the I luv U/ Functions on the Low made me wonder if there were any other vocalled versions of this track on radio rips anywhere? Apart from the Discarda version, which will be...

NOUGHTIES 'NUUM POLL - Dissensus top 30 garage/grime/dubstep/funky/bassline tracks

I'm proper surprised that's in the top 10. I love it and all, but given how low Anti War Dub and Midnight Request Line were, I thought we weren't going to see any more dubstep.

In which case I would like to apologise for my list basically missing all the early 2000s cos I couldn't remember them.

NOUGHTIES 'NUUM POLL - Dissensus top 30 garage/grime/dubstep/funky/bassline tracks

I find that really interesting. It might be that there's a really long tail going on here, and the only stuff we agree on at all is the big stuff. Or, the big stuff is all in the 20s and as we go up the charts it's just radio rips of Wiley's nan which only dissensus knows but all of dissensus...

There's no such thing as Margaret Thatcher

Those of you who don't know Telegraph columnist and Blairite windup merchant Dan Hodges should read this http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/danhodges/100211461/if-labour-cant-show-restraint-today-it-will-say-more-about-them-than-it-does-about-margaret-thatcher/ then this...

    How England Sees Itself

Ha! That's really interesting about the small coastal towns. Even in the new labour boom years, all the development money went into places like Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow. Small towns were getting left behind anyway and now they've basically been downsized further. I went to Blackburn for the...

    How England Sees Itself

This is spot on. The difference between London and other parts of the country is huge now. This article could have been written really easily and accurately in, say, Hull, or Newcastle. London's a global city, so there's loads of foreign money sloshing around even if the locals are skint

    Roiling football blather

I wonder about this. The damage, such as it is, is done for Wigan now. They'll have 2 games to squeeze in later in the season whatever happens in the semi, which they ought to win. But if they go down this season, and they have to go down eventually, they get the cover of a cupfinal and maybe...

Three/four day weeks / the politics of free time

I'm a researcher. All the work I do is contract stuff, so we just put me in for x days or whatever when we're costing it. It means that I don't have to do 5 days' work in 4 to make it possible. I do 4 days and get paid for 4 days.

Right. I have made some progress with this but have hit a wall. I think it's something to do with the theme in wordpress. Has anyone got any experience of designing themes, or know anyone who does?

Three/four day weeks / the politics of free time

I switched to a 4 day week in January, though I'm doing work-ish things with my Fridays (such as posting on dissensus and checking Facebook). I'm lucky cos I get well paid and my boss is a good guy and I've got no real responsibilities but I absolutely love it. As well as being good in and of...

    How England Sees Itself

I saw this about Cameron not apologising for Amritsar (which is a big deal inasmuch as he's apologised for other stuff the the British state did in which he was not involved) and thought of this thread. William Dalrymple was on the radio this morning talking about Amritsar and how it wasn't...
