Moritz von Oswald - an appreciation - 'It's in the hiss'.

yeah i love that track! I used to have a 30 min walk to and from work (best part of that shitty job!) and i determined that was the best possible track to listen to as i started off my walk first thing in the morning. The way the beat slowly comes in (at an excellent walking pace) along with...

Moritz von Oswald - an appreciation - 'It's in the hiss'.

hoho, quite true, but it's structured in the same way as all the other non-vocal tracks (ie, longer and more repetitive/minimal and with a much more pronounced misty-cool dark vibe), which is I think why i love it so much. i wish they'd do some more of those types of tracks, but they seem pretty...

Moritz von Oswald - an appreciation - 'It's in the hiss'.

yeah, AFAIK everything has been collaborative between the two of them except for the maurizio records, which were strictly just moritz. Of course, who knows for sure, as they aren't exactly forthcoming with info about themselves. But both discogs and allmusic agree with me. Probably my...

hey big up mark ernestus as well man. can't let moritz get all the credit. that said, m7 is one of the greatest records of all time. i could listen to that (especially the b-side) for goddamn ever.

    rachel stevens

Nice!! I just got the radio edit of this a few days ago (via lemon-red) and man have i been playing the hell out of it. super fantastico dance-pop loveliness. personally, between this and "since u been gone" pop music has been making me feel damn happy these days. urge to dance around singing...

    what makes a nightclub good?

hey it can also be quite interesting too dom, don't self-censor too much! anyway, i'm surprised no one's mentioned dress codes yet, or perhaps that just too obvious a no-no. certainly a club having some sort of fancy dress code is the surest sign that the club will be filled with arrogant...

Is the internet really good enough?

Seconded, thirded and fourthed. The internet is THE source of music for me, both in terms of reading about and hearing. I really can't stress how massively important the internet has been to my development as a music listener. ALL (and i do mean all) the artists & musical styles that i have...

Dear PitchforkMedia, You are really freaking me out (Re. Ruff Sqwad)

Ahhh! And now today they've got a "this month in dancehall" peice by stelfox, and are promising next week a "this month in techno" article by philip sherburne...wtf!? now all they need to do is ditch all the crappy indie coverage and this would be a helluva music website.

Dear PitchforkMedia, You are really freaking me out (Re. Ruff Sqwad)

wow, between jess' excellent article on online mp3 mixes and the review of 7 (!) new kompakt singles, this has to be my favorite day of pitchfork ever! finally all my inexplicable checking of that website has been repaid (a bit).

    Can I make a suggestion?

I don't know if this is at all possible, but what seems useful would be to have a "topic" subheading whereby posts within a forum could be classified as being about Food, or Events/Shows or something. Like being able to select from a drop down menu a list of suggested possible topics for posts...

    China - Japan

I haven't been paying too much attention to this, but i'm wondering, why now? WWII was kinda awhile ago...obviously there's more going on here. So what's the subtext? Secret Chinese plots ;) ?

    The Stateside Connection(New Grime Mix)

my apologies (really!). and well, yeah, this is excellent. the mixing is actually suprisingly smooth considering the source material, and not single siren or explosion or gun firing or anything to mask the transitions! (at least that i noticed...) tight mix.

    Lady Sov's "Random" and Badiou

Bah! I totally disagree. Throughout my university career both my grades and my weed habit have gone up. course I never reached daily smoker level but nevertheless, I say the whole feelin' slow thing is just a placebo effect cuz people keep telling us that that's what weed does. don't buy into...

what's yer top 10 - albums, singles, whatever

I dunno, 'dip it low' certainly caught my attention when i first heard it, and is still probably my favorite of the two. though 'whatever you want' is definitely more of a crowd pleaser i guess...
