hey, i don't know if anyone posted anything about this, but can you recommend any chicagoan footwork events? i'm definitely going to be in chicagoland at some point this summer, and while last year's juke/footwork mixtape search-out failed miserably due to time constraints, i'd still be really...

yeah it's got that really tangled a. russell vibe, so pleasing to just put on and get lost in. today, loving pearson sound - "higher"

    what you currently enjoying ?

superlate on this but matrix metals is a cool lp...also altered natives, and that latest andy stott...i'm not so into him or claro intelecto or demdike because often it sounds like they're just hanging out at boomkat and going home to make copies of the hot records, but "tell me anything" is for...

granted i like salem a lot, but the interviewers are soooo much worse than the band.

yeah i agree, and it's the aspect of homespun genius that leads to semi-clumsy burial comparisons. but if this stuff was going to start popping up regularly on 12"s, i'd probably dj boo or clent or rashad over him. + hint, probably blaqstarr is a more apt b-more comparison, i mean aaron lacrate...

but whatever, i can see why you guys don't like it. nate's in a precarious position, marketing wise...it has some obvious scene-wide implications but i think for instance, night slugs, in their association with rashad, are helping alleviate them. so it's not totally fucked.

if you're one of those white dorks who likes aphex and burial and buys music and reads the guardian for music information, you might want to read a little tip-off, no matter how knowledgeable the person behind it is. again, it's basically a decent press release for nate, with a few stray...

i don't think it's the best article (and they should probably have titled it solely about dj nate), but in slight defense, i did have to write a small primer on footwork about a year ago for a little internet magazine and it was quite hard to get information on; i tried a lot of phone numbers...

for all the oneohtrix point never fans!

new oneohtrix is pretty rad, it's got the warped vocal thing in a few places as exemplified here, which i was hoping he'd use more of <param name="allowscriptaccess"...

    house and techno are bad

i agree. they're absolutely in tune with the "essence" even if that gets derivative sometimes. i don't really want a label that's going to be obnoxiously eclectic...in my eyes it's worse to churn out the preset-based populist club stuff with 'craaazy breakdowns' than it is to churn out rough +...

    house and techno are bad

for one - legowelt he may have been arpeggiator disco when his profile was the highest, but he and his constant stream of aliases are having a miniature renaissance lately...the stuff on strange life records, psychic stewardess, nacho patrol, not sure when the last salamandos was but that as...

for all the oneohtrix point never fans!

i always thought this as well; i'm no synth expert but i have a very budget 1990s groovebox and that crisp tone on a lot of his tracks isn't so far removed from it. + agree on the second point as well, as often as i play his more arpeggiated stuff there is this depressing emptiness to it. it's...

nice thanks he's definitely someone for whom there's a lot of past signifiers to be found but nobody can be bothered to say anything more than "klaus schulze" so these are really welcome
