I'd be interested to know how many digital copies of 'Greatest Hits' Skepta managed to flog - putting it up for download a week before he put out the CD was a savvy move on his part I reckon. I know personally, that was the first (and thus far only) album I've ever paid to download, and what's...

    2008 tips/predictions/hopes

this is exactly, to the letter, what i've been saying! trim and durrty goodz are the two grime emcees who i think could really appeal to a wider, hip-hop rooted audience if given half a chance and decent promotion. unless jammer makes 13 different versions of murkle man, i don't see him doing...

boy oh boy do i wish there was any chance of goodz playing live in london any time soon. shit i would have willingly forked up £25 for an uninspired kano performance at jazz cafe if i'd realised goodz was doing a warmup set... haven't seen this mentioned on here, posted on blackdown's blog a...

i missed trim cos i'm an idiot - was sat in the bar the whole time he was on and the only glimpse of him i got was seeing him leaving. BAH. apart from that, i had a really really good night, best night for a while in fact. bun-u deserves infinite respect for putting on consistently good, well...

    Burial "Untrue"

but on a serious note this album is utterly amazing. zhao, that stuff you were saying about how you want music that pulls at the heart strings - that's EXACTLY what burial's music does for me and so many other people. it's a different strokes for different folks thing i suppose, but burial's...

excellent interview with trim at blackdown... B: What’s the 12 Monkeys theme about on the artwork? T: The film was not used the right way, they never had 12 real goonbags. Ha. I think that the 12 monkeys that represent the circle that are gonna be here when I’ve left. And I’m not saying “left”...

Just listened to Greatest Hits for the first time. The previews on Boomkat really had me fearing the worst, but I'm glad to say it's better than I expected. I still can't stand 'sweet mother' and the 'cold turkey' is a very poor choice of closing track, but I enjoyed it a lot on first listen...

picked up a copy at sounds of the universe on friday - read it cover to cover pretty much straight away. the best zine i've read in a long, long time, and one that has been sorely needed for ages - the second issue can't come soon enough! maximum respect to all involved.

    Dubstep

gave his stuff a try after boomkat spunked all over that EP a couple of weeks ago - not too enamoured with that particular record, but he's got a load of (as yet) unreleased stuff that's pretty damn great. give a listen to his mix on the north/south divide podcast - great stuff, the first track...
