    Dubstep

seems to me that the move is quite a personal thing, which is maybe a bit understandable given how demanding and insulting some posters (and even a big-ish producer) were starting to become i think droid's point is a very good one though either way i think its probably a good thing for the...

i reckon the VIP term has probably always been loosely applied, and even more so now. either way the central point for me is how jokes all Marcus Nasty's VIP vocals are, i love them

    Dubstep

Benny Ill is always worth seeing, mixing is not so good but every time i see him he plays shockingly good tunes, usually plenty i've never heard before also. but i dunno what kind of set he'll be playing Glazed is a ridiculous tune, love it. what i love is that it is so ruff, which is rare...

    timbaland/neptunes

funny you should mention that last night i spent a little while on youtube listening to '99-ish Mannie Fresh and Ca$h Money, and listening back now (i didn't know about garage or grime til much later) that stuff sounds so much like grime. rhythms are less extreme but the aesthetic is so similar

questions you are dying to ask but are too scared to b/c of music nerd cred?

my knowledge is very sketchy, but from impressions i've got, i think it was kind connected to broken beat in sound although im not sure how connected to the 'scene' but people like Front Room Recordings Freerange (actually based in East apparently but i always associate it with the other guys...

questions you are dying to ask but are too scared to b/c of music nerd cred?

its also probably appropriate to consider the role that communications technology (and other factors) has played here... the internet has perhaps considerably changed the degree to which producers of that tendency can converge around a single scene or genre to express that tendency and receive...

    Funky/London/UK House

! and regardless of whether Ron Hardy would have agreed, imo whatever the precedent, a lot of what is exciting about funky is that an element within it have no deference to what people think house music should or shouldn't be or what 'house music can't get away with'!
