Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

Well back in my day, we used two wall fans and a sewing needle connected to a big horn with telephone wire. That's when REAL DJs existed.

Never heard that Gant Remix, nope. RE: A Milli....dude there have got to be 20 juke versions of that song and every other huge hiphop single of the last 10 years.

To whoever asked the question about these guys listening to House and Hip-Hop, why yes of course, that's pretty damn obvious. Also: Rashad loves Steely Dan, and Traxman made a track out of Velvet Underground's "Heroin" too. I've yet to hear the later, but I heard his remix of "I Am The Walrus"...

Damn I gotta cop that reissue of Twin Infinitives now. Great fucking band for sure. Love "Dial M for Motherfucker" and the "Exile on Main Street" cover tape too. I played the later on the radio once and listeners were PISSED! "This sounds like shitty karaoke!" The highlight of my year as a radio...

The key to that though is "without the support of pirate radio" :) man I wish we had that here in the states. I love the rap remixes too, I've heard Rashad's remix of Travis Porter - Make it Rain on the radio a few times lately. That one is so good in the club too

now that is funny, a regular juke show on Chicago radio!? haha! No but really, the radio in Chicago fucking sucks for the most part. Also you have to understand, juke isn't like the main local music here, other forms of house music are way more popular, just like they are everywhere else. The...

That whistle track is Blow Your Shit by Traxman, and it is the shit. I play it every time I DJ. Watch out for it's release, hopefully soon. I could try and make up a tracklist, let me jam it again today.

oh yeah.... each footwork battle is usually only 4 minutes long if it's 1 vs 1. Usually each person gets a minute. So even if it's 5 vs 5 your only really looking at 20 minutes. Obviously given this timeframe, you gotta mix quick.

Rashad remixed that track with Trim so he's obviously heard grime, but he isn't sitting at home jamming it. He's definitely heard it. I do play some grime when I DJ, though usually just instrumentals, and I'm not super knowledgeable about it. Man all the clubs in Chicago kind of fucking blow...

yes what Neema said is right. Jersey shit is so fucking fun to play out too, makes people go nuts everytime. I play more of it when I DJ than I do foowork stuff usually. I dunno wtf your talkin about with Jayhood's subgenre tho Neema (not saying it's not true) because most Jersey Club I heard...

oh cool he still makes shit. The guys I talk to went to school with the dude and just tell me he never djs anywhere, that is all I know. A lot of his beats kinda remind be of grime, but I couldn't really hear anyone rapping over them. Just less housey. Dude has some crazy synths no doubt...

if bubbling got really hyped, I would be psyched. Anti-G is rad, but from what I understand he doesn't really play out much in the NLs, and I don't even know if he still makes bubbling? A lot of his stuff sounds like grime to me. Straight up bubbling has kind of died out in the NLs and it's...

As far as Miami goes though, people will definitely start paying attention to this guy, who has been a legend for years down there. <param name="allowscriptaccess"...

Moombahton is just as popular if not more popular than juke in the states already, I've seen tons of flyers with moombahton listed as one of the genres. Jersey is definitely the next "hood dance genre" (ugh) that is gonna get a lot of hype, I mean it already is getting played quite a bit. It...

I expect most people will drop it for some other genre this year, it's just what happens. I expect next up is Jersey Club, though that one won't really appeal to the "avant electronic" people like footwork does. I can't say I really give a fuck though. PS, I heard some new RP Boo on...
