    Autism

radiation and chromosomal mutation I have a new hairbrained idea about where the genetic mutations on the chromosome (the ones that are linked to autism) came from. Ok, I know I have a dozen ideas a day about this. But this one actually makes sense. I think. My uncle who runs an environmental...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

After being tricked into to seeing Dancer in the Dark, I decided nobody was ever going to con me into being party to one of von Trier's filmic abortions again for as long as I lived.

    How dodgy is soy?

Veganism is still considered by many psychologists to be an eating disorder, simply because of the amount of time and energy that it requires of its adherents to maintain as a lifestyle. I know that's controversial but medically any diet that takes up more than a certain percentage of a...

    How dodgy is soy?

I really love Age Tofu from most decent Japanese restaurants... Tofu's only disappointing and weird if you're expecting it to be a meat stand-in or substitute. If you're enjoying it on its own merits it's good, there are a million ways to prepare it, most of them involve vegetables tho, instead...

    What scares you ???

I used to have this one when I was a kid and afraid of the dark, the two phobias were part of the same general anxiety, that in the dark if I fell asleep someone was inevitably going to come into my room and brutally murder me. I think it was based on TV shows like Rescue 911 and Unsolved...

Ha! You didn't happen to get video of this? It would be a good idea for a youtube channel: people smashing TVs.

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Persepolis was good, sort of cutesy, but better than I expected. Vampyros Lesbos if you like kitschy Eurohorror.

    kids

Six six sixties... If you're going to have kids it seems to me that you'd better be ready to unleash them on an unpredictable world full of Mansons, and to realize that they're not carbon genetic copies of you, who will fulfill every dream of yours that you couldn't, but that they're actually...

    Music you are prejudiced against

Of course, mine would probably be the easiest to compute.

Dissensus is sooooo predictable we could write a fucking algorithm for these threads at this point

Pointless But It Does My Head In

I own probably 10 purple shirts, no exaggerating. Is that bad or something? Speaking of itunes updates, don't install the latest one, it's really fucking annoying. It has pop ups...when you start a new song it will pop up a window with the damned album artwork...

    La Gaga

I like how she's very consciously styled herself as a queer icon, by making supercharged pop music with a "message" and a glam sensibility. She's reminiscent of early 80s Madonna, but with a much better sense of humor. Re "hommaged" looks: there's a pretty great picture of her wearing, in broad...

    Hip Hop 09?

Ace Hood WHAT? Yeah I think it's safe to say the genre bores the world senseless. For a while there I was loving all of the T-pain guest spot "she move her body like a cycloone" trashy ringtone anthems but even that is wearing so so thin. And not just the autotune part, either. The whole thing...

    televisual parenting

My parents didn't allow me to watch anything good when I was a kid (Simpsons, 90210, Saved by the Bell) except the A-Team and MacGuyver. So as soon as the babysitter came over we snuck in all the forbidden shows. To make up for anything I missed I watch an ungodly amount of TV now, or I should...

    Hip Hop 09?

RnB has been around since the late 1950s but I'm talking about how RnB and hip hop sort of fused into one entity on the radio. Artists like Fabolous technically "rap" but their demo is more on target with RnB listeners and their aesthetic is more mainstream/accessible.

    Hip Hop 09?

It doesn't matter what Three Six Mafia does for the rest of their career, they'll never match the pure poetry of: "i gotta stay hii-i-iii-iii-igh/till i di-iii-iii-ie" I think RnB sorta took over the radiowaves and the braindrain started in 2004 or maybe a little earlier...
