Hip-Hop - breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Hell no! Bun B doesn't even appear on the radar of most hip hop heads/purists because they never owned any UGK albums in the first place. I can't diss Bun B because I don't even know enough about him to do so. I've been involved with hip hop for all 30 years of my life, and where I live...

What? Now, all of a sudden everyone is coming to me and asking me to recommend them some Grime and asking me about Grime artists...I guess I'm one of the few people that is a fan of Grime that ISN'T a poseur/hipster so I can better explain things. The MTV Overdrive/Kidulthood hype has created...

ursula rucker on the 'ho-erisation' of hip-hop

It's so real! I have a four year old neice and I'm not even comfortable have her watch videos on "safe" video stations or even listening to the radio for that manner...women can look AMAZING in clothes as well! This is why Jean Grae, Tiye Phoenix, Eternia, Byata, Madusa, etc. will never get...

    Grime...please recommend some for me

Question... I've been putting my peoples here in the US on to UK Hip Hop and Grime for a while now (after years of playing 1xtra versions of Kano, Dizzee Rascal, Lethal Bizzle, Roll Deep, Wiley, Durrty Goodz, JME, and Skepta joints, heads start nodding and people begin asking questions). In Hip...

Jeff Chang: “Why has nothing replaced hip hop?”

Naaah, man. Nothing has replaced Hip Hop because Hip Hop is a hybrid/end result music form created by OTHER GENRES/STYLES OF MUSIC. It's tofuish in the sense that it can be mixed, splashed in, or used in collaboration with other styles of music but it will STILL BE CONSIDERED RAP/HIP HOP...

    Jay Dee/Jay Dilla

Sad This is a sad day for hip hop. When we learn the news yesterday, we spent a whole hour trying to confirm if he had indeed passed or not...that made finding out EVEN WORSE. Rest In Eternal Peace, J Dilla. One.

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

Question Remains.... Any heads think that Grime or UK Hip Hop can make a foothold in the States? I know that Dizzee Rascal and Ms. Dynamite had some success and The Streets is a media darling over here but do you think that Kano, Lethal Bizzle or someone else can get it done? One.

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

Nutty Everytime I got to Roll Deep's myspace page, the 30 second "Shake A Leg" video starts up and I get kicked off of the page...but the damn video is still playing! When it ends and I close it it goes back to the last page I was just on! I'm just trying to add these dudes to my Friends...

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

I'm a hypocrite! I went to the record store today...thumbed thru the CD's, perused the vinyl, scanned through the DVD's, went straight to the magazines...I read the Mass Appeal, Elemental, The Ave....and Venus..the one with Lady Sov on the cover. I read the Ladybug Mecca article, and the Donnas...

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

I'm so sick of Lady Sovereign! I don't want to discuss Lady Sovereign UNLESS it's in the following context(s): 1. Lady Sovereign being signed because Jay wasn't aware there were SO MANY OTHER TALENTED EMCEES in the UK that deserved that shot before Sov got it. 2. How in the hell is he going...

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

Mixtapes Difference is that you can put out one studio album every year to three years whereas you can put out as many mixtapes as you have to time and energy to make. The Lox ate off of mixtapes, guest appearances and ghostwriting for other artists...they had a HORRIBLE deal in place so they...

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

Huh? When did I write that? All it says is "mixtape form"...I don't have any clue what context I used it in so how can I explain it's usage or what I meant by it? One.

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

I agree. I'd like to see Kano stick with the Grimeness, especially the beats...he can do both but I'd like him to introduce Grime/Eski to the US as a whole. I personally like Reggaeton...it's just Reggae/Hip Hop hybridized and done in Spanish as opposed to English...I'm good with that. I think...
