    Great recent r&b gems

I came across Teedra James on Myspace --> you should check out 'Backstroke'. I like it very much and seems to fit into the category you're looking for.

    music / emotional complexity

Interesting point. This made me think of the timeline of music. See it's only been about a hundred years since music has been recorded and approx the same time it was able to be transmitted. The uniqueness of experiencing a piece of music was absolute then, you could garauntee that no one would...

    music / emotional complexity

That hits the nail on the head. I can listen to a song for 2 hours, each time getting better with such an epitomy. Or watch a scratched reggea dvd with a good friend (pfffffffffff Spectrum, with Sizzla/Beenie/Spragga Benz/Buju and a whole load of others just banging out their best known bars...

I don't totally agree with this though. I don't think unions and governments have quite the impact they think. Certainly with globalisation, companies will find ways to get things done. This is the good side of capitalism, it stimulates development. I view all development as progress, even if...

    music / emotional complexity

Music has given me many emotions, of which sadness is the very least of. My dad was a professional musician for most of my childhood, and introduced me to many different types of music. I do think that music has its origins in emotions though. Grieving, war, celebration, victorious....all music...

why aren't there more grime mixtapes?

Well it seems that more of them are coming out and are in 'the pipeline' -- which is kind of the problem as well. I remember hearing about Ears mixcd towards the end of last summer -- now it's supposed come out in 'a few weeks' But I think this will be the next stage of development of the scene...

Where indeed... That is the big question, i'd rather have the dutch system than the us one aswell, it's just it has to be somewhere in between, but where? and can you keep it there? The greatest good for the greatest number? When the greatest good is so different in any persons mind.... luckily...

The reason why law jobs require a higher pay is because the need different skills. To you it might seem to be arguing about miniscule things, but lawyers are paid a lot of money to find or prevent cracks in the system. To follow up on other posts on this thread -- I was brought up in Holland...

    Bruza's mix cd

Do you hear the same simularities as i do between their WD25 riddim and Slicks' No Bass riddim? Personally I love the melodic, minimal tunes......I hope to find both on vinyl (i do buy vinyl, but hardly vocals and only ones that I think I would play in 20 years time)

    Bruza's mix cd

Yeah it is mostly his 12" releases, but i'm glad he put them on a cd a sells them for a fraction of the price :) But yeah i didn't expect much because of the lack of cd case and pritt image, but it suprised me. Sound quality is a lot better than Ghetto's

This is what I meant when I said that what the unions do has changed. Before no one could start a factory except for a one of those 5%, and they had great power because of it. Now the possibilities have increased, that power has lessened and the 'factory owners' have to consider the employees...

I don't see you disagree with me actually. I'm feel on an individual level, people can make big improvements. But I can see that on a class/minority/group (don't know the right word to use) level it has become less flexible. However the period you talk about is one of immigration and comes after...

    Bruza's mix cd

I got it yesterday -- I've really been suprised. £5 and looks really cheap as well, but the music is great! I've never been a big fan of Bruza, but there are real quality tracks on it as well as a few experiments which make it intresting. Anyone listened to it yet? On a side note, the quality...

Surely the unions don't fulfill the same function today as they did during the industrial revolution. During that period the working class went through a emancipation and the uions where a cause and an effect of that emancipation. Today, society (western world) provides opportunities to develop...
