Pop! What is it good for?

oh wait maybe we're talking about different things? sorry i was foolish to assume! given that theres a whole season  the thing i saw went through various elements in song... melody, arrangement etc, i found it really mundane, a really boring way to think about what makes pop appealing

    Dubstep

i feel to go to all of them! its been so long since i even felt to go to any of them! so sick. if they keep it up something like this could reinvigorate the scene, it needs a proper and regular hub again. Pinch is starting a monthly in Bristol specifically for local talent too

    HTML banned?!?!

but whatever one might judge his motivations to be, his posts were informative, thought-provoking and challenging, which surely is what this place is about i can sympathise with an instinctive desire to create harmonious spaces, but i would be very disappointed if he didn't come back

    HTML banned?!?!

despite some things, for me, his posts are one of the best things about dissensus

i thought Solid Groove was only Switch now? did it not used to be him and Trevor Loveys? Sinden draws hard on ghettotech and juke and all international booty bass, goes through genres at a ridiculous rate, and the vibe i get all in all is that slightly distanced glamourisation of 'ghetto'...

    NYE in London

haha, well... got the train through at about 10, all carraiges packed with skinny jeans lumberjack shirts etc, got to the venue at 10:15 to find the venue full and a crowd of at least 500 (if not substantially more) frustrated youngsters swarming the venue! there was a good atmosphere around...

he was never part of Solid Groove, but he is very much associated, and has done stuff with Dave Taylor in various guises, some of which is actually very very good imo. but now he's more known in his own right as a dj, he's been referred to as the UK's Diplo lol. 'ghetto' hipster type stuff, he...

    Reynolds on planet-mu

Just reading Energy Flash for the first time actually, nearing the end, and this highlights what I think frustrates me most about the book... one of the central arguments seems to be that exclusion through the erection of barriers is the key factor which renders certain music and scenes...

if its the one i heard it was, being used in the same way (which may not be correct) i would say maybe 650-750 or something. which i guess is a lot, it just seems like the kind of thing that may draw well beyond that. the guestlist thing implies that they're dealing with the matter though...

thanks for the tips! that thing in Northampton looks ridiculous Joyride will be sick but I don't know if its a space big enough to deal with the numbers I think they'll get, so I'm not quite convinced (yet!). probably just playing by ear is the way forward

Does anyone know of anything good happening in London? For parties preferably in an illegal setting... theres this Joyride thing which looks decent, but I have yet to come across anything that gets me going fully...

haha, such is the seasonal cheer! yeh this was a very very good one from our perspective, such positive vibes, so many friendly faces! and many people with dancing shoes, which is always good of course. all djs i saw terrorised it, and the venue is just ridiculously good. thanks to anyone...
