    What is Deleuze?

Ive just started to read this thread (yes the title is great). The above method is uncanny, it speaks of common encounters with capitalism and schizophrenia, a little pessimistic though. Im going to read the rest of the tread now.

decent books on how the mind works

Dennett was actually trying to undo the distinctions between, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology etc buy doing exactly what you are saying he doesnt do. That is emphasize the relationality of the environment to neurological 'hardware'. When he says "two neurons", he is talking about the...

decent books on how the mind works

The point of the quote as i see it is that psychology begins when we start to understand the cognitive, neurological network. Weather that be understood in 3rd person scientific or phenomenological terms - thoughts, feeling etc. I dont think Dennett would have have dropped a bullshitty phrase...

decent books on how the mind works

'Brain and Culture' by Bruce Wexler is a neurological approach to developmental psychology and the understanding of culture as embodied and 'plastic'. 'Converstations on Consciousness' is perhaps the best introduction to this sort of stuff. Its a anthology of interviews with twenty or so...

    The Bristol Sound

I think its interesting how the 'sounds' have always been ascribed to cities. I guess thats where music happens. I must say I don't know much about Bristol's musical history, but on a more general note, i guess the internet has changed they way 'sounds' are made and understood. For example the...

    superstar dj's

Yeah, they certainly dont pack out stadiums, but in terms of the nicheness, niche in the sense that the crowd are real fans, im not sure the average Skream or Rusko crowd are any more dubstep savvy or devoted than the Tiesto lot .

    Biopolitics

Some links to a few great books i have read on this subject. I would particularly recommend Rose's chapter 'neurochemical selves'. The PDF is available free online. http://press.princeton.edu/titles/8314.html LSE are really leading the way with this type of research...

    superstar dj's

How about the Dubstep chaps like Skream, Benga, Kode 9 and Rusko, etc. Who also do shows all over the world, play to pretty heterogeneous audiences but don't get the big pay outs. Obviously Im not into discussing how much people get paid but we can assume the above guys dont receive the same...
