Nighty Night - has anyone seen it? Liza watched it all the way through not too long ago and then she wanted to watch it back through again and she persuaded me to accompany her on the journey.
And, well, I dunno what to say really. I knew it was nasty and dark and all that, I'd had some scenes described to me even. But despite that... it is just fucking horrible isn't it? Is it funny? I don't even know. It reminds me of something
Mr. Tea once said about how The League of Gentlemen changed its focus from trying to make people laugh at horrible stuff, to being as horrible as possible and seeing if people still laughed. Except this starts right off in evil mode.
So yeah if you wanna see a woman brutalising her cancer ridden husband - locking him up and strapping him into a bed in an adult nappy - while she pursues her neighbour's husband, bullying his sick wife and fucking their son, this is the thing for you.
And then the second series relocated to a Cornish hippy therapy retreat just gets worse... Jill and her sidekick cut a swathe of destruction through everyone and everything in their path - killing the vicar by unplugging his iron lung, hammering a teenager to death during a nose job she's convinced she needs, accusing a twelve year old child of repeatedly raping her - and top that off with all kinds of gross out stuff - the scene where Jill balances on her head and Linda stuffs a spunk covered roast dinner into her in a desperate attempt to make her pregnant springs to mind - all in the pursuit of an utterly vacant Angus Deayton.
