We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the exciting new Film Salon CINEAST.
CINEAST offers filmmakers a platform to showcase their work and explores current movements in contemporary cinema and moving image. Filmmakers can test and reflect on their work and place their practice within a cinematic culture, in a salon environment, discussing their process and intentions with a critically engaged audience.
CINEAST Salon is proud to present an exclusive preview screening of a selection of works by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, from their 'Civic Life' series: a unique and richly cinematic set of short films that capture different places, characters and communities in a single daring long-take. Molloy and Lawlor seek out stories rarely told, dowsing the fault lines of contemporary life in the fears, hopes and dreams of real people. Using complex film rigs and sometimes hundreds of extras, and made in negotiation with residents of towns and cities, these works are both theatrical and cinematic, experimental and highly accessible meditations on contemporary life.
The inaugural CINEAST Salon is hosted by The Nunnery Gallery, in Bow, the heart of London's East End on Thursday November 4th 19:00 - 21.00 as part of Bow Arts Trust First Thursdays program of events http://www.bowarts.org/thenunnery.
The Nunnery Gallery 181 Bow Road E3 2SJ (Bow Road Tube) see Google Maps link below.
