Well, who’d of thought it but we’ve only gone and made it to the ripe old age of one! Yes, on the 14th January AKA AKA ROAR! Will officially be a whole year old (369 days to be precise) and to celebrate this milestone we’ve decided to throw a little birthday dance...

If you havn’t heard SBTRKT’s new EP with Jessie Ware then you should, it’s very, very good and that’s not all. If you take a trip through his impressive back catalo...gue (which includes remixes for the likes of Basement Jaxx, Fantastic Mr. Fox, These New Puritans and errr... Mark Ronson) you’ll find a genius at work, easily melding elements of dubstep, garage and house while retaining a subtle originality and charm that is indescribable, which of course we love! His DJ sets have become the stuff of legend as has his penchant for never appearing in public without his now infamous African mask, which personally I’m as intrguiged about as anything else.

A lot can happen in a year at AKA AKA ROAR! and believe me it has, some of it bad, some downright mad but a hell of a lot of it bloody awesome! Two examples of the latter can simply be described with two names.... Braiden and Brackles. Such was the sheer ferocity with which these two have rocked our parties on separate occasions in the past that you could almost smell our brain cells frying when we thought, why not put them in the same room together, playing records, b2b, for a special once in a year style 90 minute set?! If you’ve ever caught their respective shows on Rinse or indeed seen them at previous AKAs you’ll understand why we are so teeth crunchingly excited and truly honoured to have them both back to celebrate our birthday with us, honestly, truly-un-missable!

We at AKA AKA ROAR! Don’t know much about Liverpool, nor do we know much about its rich musical tapestry other than The Beatles, Cilla Black and Gerry and the Pacemakers. All we do know is that if the City spawned someone as good as SLACKK it must be doing something right. SLACKK has been around the grime scene from day, making tunes and getting airplay from rinse FM’s Ellijah and Skilliam, however it wasn’t until he decided to take Grime’s aggressive rythms and lyrics, and mix them with more dancefloor friendly tunes that the magic really started to happen, and what maghttp://www.dubstepforum.com/posting.php?mode=post&f=45&sid=0ad5a9d74336ff1754f89937dbb9e044ic. His Eski – House mix has been received to great acclaim and a whole load of reliable sources say he’s one of the best DJs around.

And how could we have a party without the loyal support of the AKA Fam: Ben White, Temple, Elfivedee, Paste, Stickie Davis, Dodger Man and Leon + more tba

Door tax for all these fun and frolics is a ridiculous £6 b4 12 and more there after with drinks deals running all night long........
