Started playing online with a mate. He pasted me first game but I got him like this on the rematch (I'm black).

Probably shouldn't gloat too much cos he's really good and went on to worry me for ages even after he lost his Queen.

He's in a right mess there though, as well as the trapped queen he has lost a knight, failed to get any of his pieces into places where they can do anything and he also has that annoying doubled-pawn. By way of contrast your bishop is central, your knights are advanced and your pawns protect each other.

Yeah he was really aggressive, got his Queen out straightaway, trying to make a big kill. It was very satisfying gradually trapping it.

The decider will be interesting.

Also, I did wonder towards the end whether he might be doing what olaf did and putting it through a machine, cos he made a couple of really good moves which felt out of character to me, had me wobbling for a little while.

Eventually got to checkmate after a few more exchanges and it was satisfyingly complex, with the king boxed up in a similar manner to the queen

If he was using an engine you'd have been completely thrashed.

It's what has put me off playing online but I might get into it, really enjoyed the game. Much better than lemmings.
