A BUCKET OF BLOOD (Roger Corman, 1959) & THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (Joseph Green, 1959)
SCHEDULE :
6 - 8pm : Music/Trailers in the upstairs bar...
Psychotic Psychedelia and Freaky Film Soundtracks from the brilliant DJ, Idle Rich, plus crazy and hilarious B-movie/exploitation film trailer visuals, all in the upstairs bar.
8pm : A BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959, Roger Corman, 66 mins)
A Far-out Beatnik Horror Comedy!
Trailer :
Considered one of Roger Corman’s best films, this is a very funny, darkly satirical horror which perfectly encapsulates the sometimes pretentious, narcissistic art and poetry of the late 50′s Beat scene. A struggling, unknown artist accidentally kills the landlady’s cat, but then decides to use its corpse for a new sculpture. When he exhibits it at a Bohemian cafe, frequented by the local stuck up cool cats and Beatniks, he receives huge critical acclaim. But the dead cat is just the start of his deadly new 'art-form' – next up is a human subject!
9 - 10pm : Music/Trailers upstairs...
10pm : THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (1959, Joseph Green, 90 mins)
A Bizarre Decapitated ‘Head’ Movie!
Trailer :
One of the best ‘brain in a jar’ films, this classic B-movie is a very weird trip into a dark, disturbing universe, touching upon philosophical mind/body themes, along with some hilarious schlock horror. When his wife is killed in a car crash, her mad scientist husband saves her severed head and keeps it alive in his laboratory. When she comes back to consciousness she is horrified, but he will not let her die, planning on finding her a new, more beautiful body, by nefarious schemes. But little does he know that his wife can telepathically communicate with the imprisoned mutant in the broom cupboard!
