Venetian Snares!

Thursday May 19

LESSON NUMBER ONE & FORECAST PRESENT:

VENETIAN SNARES
Winnipeg, Canada's Venetian Snares has been injecting frightening intensity and noise jerks into drum'n'bass patterns since the late nineties. Throughout countless LPs and 12"s, predominantly for the Planet Mu label, Snares has become a behemoth in dark dance music, fit to compete with Aphex Twin in the untouchable stakes. Latest album 'Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett' mixes beautiful violins and merciless snare breaks. So expect a solitary figure caning Stella-core beats into the most sophisticated of textures. Legendary.
Samples of pretty much everything on the new one are here: http://www.planet-mu.com/ziq111.html

C64
Toronto DJ (touring with Snares) who plays jungle, ragga and breakcore in a take-no-prisoners style. He has a mix CD called 'Transitional Days' on Peace Off, plus you can listen to another mix here:

STABMASTER VINYL
Formerly of Snowdonia but now living in Bristol, Stabmaster Vinyl was raised on the Welsh-language indie scene of the 80s before getting into old rave and Warp Records' electronic innovators. He has an album called 'And Then It Was Dark' on his own label, High Quality. It has kickass breakcore bits, lush bleepy bits and a version of the 'Ready Steady Cook' theme.
Three MP3s are here: http://highqualityrecordings.co.uk/stabmaster_e.htm
