I've just stumbled across an old BBC story about him visiting Smethwick, in the West Midlands, a few days before he was assassinated. Apparently an artist called Stephen C Page uncovered the footage in '05, but it's the first I've heard of it.

Fifty years ago the US political activist Malcolm X visited Smethwick in the West Midlands as he was disturbed by newspaper reports that people were being treated badly.

see if you can find this archived somewhere. Was shown as a series on the Smithsonian channel. Very up close and personal interviews and footage.
