Noise Nutters

I'm not up to speed enough on scenes and structures to know how much of a general thing this is, but I always find it weird that when we go out to see some sort of ear-splitting racket, it's always either sex / power / death / magick weirdos - maybe in their slightly more dignified old age now - or "cool dad" types in jumpers and converse, with very little in between. Maybe some sort of convergence of weirdo industrial and experimental psych? Not sure.

I haven't been to such shows for ages and probably will never again, but when I went to noise shows it was all very square arty/student types.

Apparently we don't have a proper noise thread, just this one, a few on specific acts and some old events threads. Was about to make one, but thought we may as well keep this one rolling and use it as a general one too.

Currently got this on -

different type of noise, posted in other threads yet it warrants an inclusion

really don’t want to sound pretentious which is like the caveat I’m not racist but, it’s not maximalist, it’s not saw waves cutting through your consciousness and metal, it’s not digitally altered or augmented post-production but, like teeth flossing, it has a tendency to remove psychic plaque and install a weird minty rinse

weird, was reading something earlier today that mentioned K2
always meant to check out more by him besides the tiny selection I have here, but ya know, noise - how much do you really need?

Was it the Boomkat review of the new Dilloway / Cage thing? K2 has a Bandcamp page with tons of material, btw.

Yeah, that must have been it.
I listened to the samples of that record and decided it was another one of those where the process seemed more interesting than the results.

I've been enjoying "Surge" by Consumer Electronics (first 'new album' I've bought in a while). Sounds like Philip Best's '80s detuned shortwave radio's made a comeback, with bleak lyrics that'll be fun to investigate in good time. Mostly spoken vocals, though he lets rip a bit on 'Contaminant', which sounds like being berated by a pisshead in a Croydon Wetherspoons - without being quite as Jesus, this cunt's gone mental as he used to sound. Guess age and vocal nodules catch up with us all.

Also, 30 years since this ditty came out:
