ok, qualifiers first. not music for when you are bored of music, a la drone, but music for when you are bored of existing in that current moment in time.
secondly: doesn't have to be good or critically rated, just distracting and entertaining in some respects. can be hilariously bad or hilariously funny, or neither.
third: does not really include music to induce boredom, but to combat it.

I don't listen to a ton of jazz, so I'd have to say it acts as my occasional palate cleanser when I'm bored. because it's usually jazz from 30-50 years ago, it allows me to escape from electronics and trendy sound design. the usual suspects: miles, Coltrane, Hancock, Getz, Mingus, sun ra.

i'm thinking more exotic weird stuff that isn't necessarily good just interesting enough to perk your ears up.

I did that recently with a month of listening to a half-dozen ashtray navigations CD-Rs.
