Apparently there's some stuff to do with Hinduism in Finnegans Wake.

I don't doubt it. I'm gonna buy a copy in May. Trying to find one in a 2nd hand bookshop but no one has one.

The vishnu avatars can be understood as a commentary on evolution.

You've got:

1.fish
2.turtle
3. boar
4. Narashima, the lion man

as the sort of pre humans. So moving up through animal complexity.

Then it goes into humans:

5.Dwarf
6.Forest dwelling man good with an axe (Parashurama, my personal favourite)
7. Krishna
8. Rama
9. Buddha
10. Is someone called kalki who hasn't arrived yet, is gonna come on a horse at revelation.

I suppose 10 is where Hinduism meets the semitic religions?

But they missed a trick by not having a tree one at the start.

Nah, not proper sheets. I'd sometimes get stuff like that 'Bicycle Day' one above with twenty five though.
