one of those artists: the semi-cool think it’s uncool to like, the fully cool know it’s waaaaay cool
that whole run from ‘sunny goodge street’ up to ‘hms donovan’ (or well, up to ‘cosmic wheels’ poss, I’ll deff pick it up now, see it in the bins all the time!)
..but then that’s just it..my slight prob with ‘sunshine superman’ is rather that it’s almost too cool. things like ‘sunny south ken’ - I see the beautiful people, the floppy biba hats, the leafy then west London homelands of boho, all too much if anything. there’re a note of in-crowd smugness about the whole thing, and it’s a bit dated for it.
but then this flushed, ardent thing:
killah!
i mean...so much good on that record, but i’ll never love it as much as, say, ‘forever changes’.
’sand and foam’ is indeed great, and one of the highlights on my fave of his ‘mellow yellow’ (a US only release if i’m not mistaken)
this is another:
love the ‘alphonse mucha gone v sketchy’ cover too
