doubt crypto can ascend past the hegemony of the u.s, but in periphery countries the ability to transact and bank without the state i think weakens political power of those states

what seems to be your real objection then-- if its that it cannot do much to change "reality" then all your arguing for is a kind of fatalism. unless your suggesting it will be a worse reality. tbf this is a plausible belief to have

but my point is that the two are contradictory, you cant hold both at the same time. either its impotent or its not

interesting tho. personally i think dollar hegemony is still inescapable
maybe in our life times. but things that are impossible today dont seem so impossible in on one or two life times. how thinkable was the fall of monarchies?

its more a q of where crypto thinks it can go
elaborate. what don't you think so. little confused do you agree with my characterization of your view or the fact that its impotent.

no avoiding this shit
Right, our nature is inescapable, but it can change. Thats exactly what we're doing when we're encompassing ourselves in our technology.

Imagine people who grow up with every transaction in a system being public, what they'll take for granted, and how their nature will reflect this.

Even technologically, we'll always have a residuum of yesterdays stack. Really the stack is a palimpsest in that regard.
