One from the bitey racist and then three from the Dutch dreamboat
All three of those RVPs are an incredible volley but also have at least one or two brilliant passes leading up to them
I always think it's a bit of a shame when an amazing volley happens after a random deflection or failed clearance
It's that thing, were we talking about this in the other thread?, of sport aspiring to a sort of aesthetic perfection and only occasionally does everything lock into place, at least in a sport as complex and chaotic as footballYeah I hear you. And, I know I started this thread so shouldn't complain, but really volleys are normally one split second of magic, whereas a great passing goal can involve a lot more. Such goals seem to be under represented in best of and end of the season lists when to me they do involve more than someone just throwing their foot at something and connecting.
Yeah that seems about right. But he's so good at getting into those positions he ends up being a more effective... arguably better, goal scorer.I don't really watch football much so I have no idea really but I always loved watching Suarez at Liverpool and Aguero (and David Silva) at Man City. Think I was even more checked out for the RVP era but I do remember some of those volleys.
Haaland is great to watch in his own way but I can't quite imagine him scoring such spectacular goals as e.g. Suarez. Just scarily good at getting into the right place and efficiently finishing it. (Again, this is based on my occasional tuning into Motd.)
I dunno man, I think he was a better finisher than Bergkamp and more skilful than Van Basten.RVP was a claaaass, rolls royce of player who, while not operating at Bergkamp or Van Basten levels, could strike a ball better than most
Some of the above defy belief
Suarez and Van Persie two of the greatest out and out strikers of all time. Maybe the best in my lifetime.
That's why it blew my mind that Haaland has already got more CL goals than Suarez despite him being world class and playing for Liverpool then Barcelona.
Suarez was patchy in the CL for Barca and barely played in it with Liverpool.
