Yeah, it seems the main reason for this is that "you don't challenge incumbency at the end of a first term", as if this were a Biblical commandment or an immutable law of physics, rather than a tradition, or rather habit.

BTW, I'm not sure it's worth engaging with Biscuits on this topic (or probably any other, really), since he believes, or affects to believe, that it was the Dems who 'stole' the 2020 election by preventing the Reps from stealing it, and no doubt has perfectly rational explanations for Trump inciting a violent insurrection or being caught on tape trying to blackmail a state election official into 'finding' a few thousand non-existent votes, etc.

Your first claim is contradicted by the article in Time that laid out precisely how it was rigged. The second one is just a lie. I expect the third one to be wrong too given that the other two are wrong.

The rigging continues at least in spirit. The whole point of claiming that Trump is Hitler is to justify any action to stop him becoming president. Imagine if the Tories had claimed that Starmer was the reincarnation of Pol Pot and threatened the very existence of the UK and its democracy...I really don't understand how these kinds of claims are not actionable for defamation or for breaking rules of proper conduct during the election period or, when uttered by the media, flouting broadcasting ethics. Maybe we don't get such outrageous claims in UK politics because we have some rules which the US doesn't.

One major change is that Twitter - which was presented as an unbiased platform for expression last election but was actually being heavily manipulated - now appears to be much more trustworthy.

2. Fatigue the opposition into giving up by continually trying to imprison them on spurious grounds.
3. Intensify fearmongering hate speech against the opposition, hoping to bait mentally ill people into taking potshots.
4. Contract Covid and walk around without a mask leading to nationwide lockdowns and cancellation of the election.

The secret service head saying there was nobody on the shooter's roof because it was slopey (even though others were slopier) just makes it even worse because the moment someone pointed out that there's someone on the roof they would all know the plan and the fact that no-one should be there, whereupon they should move Vice President DJ Trump out the way. All the snipers would also have known how many other snipers there should be. A better excuse would have been to say that the sniper who was meant to be there went to the toilet or something.

In Biden's defence, he must be thinking 'I'm roughly as gone as I was 6 months ago. If I wasn't the problem then what's the problem now?'

Also, if he's spent his life devoted to the party and dragged himself through the last however many years struggling against his increasing limitations he might well be tempted to give them a big F U by doing it for him this time rather than for them.
