Why do the Dumbo-Crap Septics think Biden still has his marbles together? I mean they real want a Convicted Criminal, Violent insurrectionist and total liar and incompetent scam artist as their President? It's crazier than a Batman movie.

I don't think they do. They've just fucked about for four years instead of lining up a replacement and now they're locked in and having to do damage control.

Part of me thinks I'd be making a bigger civic statement by not voting, IE by contributing to the collective gesture of disillusionment with our given options.

you then have to live with said state of disillusionment

I could also just find some third party figure, like I did in 2016. That would arguably be slightly better than not voting, because I'd still be signalling disillusionment with the two major parties, which is the key thing I reckon.

I'd vote for Biden if I were American. He's fucked, but he'll at least be surrounded by more normal people steering the ship than Trump will be. Biden wins and you get bog standard DC liberals, Trump wins and you get the unhinged man himself plus the bigoted lunatics willing to work with him.

I might as well. The whole thing strikes me as an epiphenomenal farce. For the last two elections I only really voted out of a quaint sense of obligation, but even that is beginning to crumble.
Are you registered to vote where you're currently living, or where you grew up?

The ass-backwards electoral college system unfortunately means it is basically pointless to vote (from the POV of the presidential election) if you live in a state like California or Wyoming that invariably votes one way or the other, regardless of whether you're supporting the side that always wins in that state or the side that always loses, so the election is always decided by a handful of key swing states. I mean, you know this of course...

To an extent the FPTP system we have in the UK suffers from the same problem, although to a much smaller degree, since we have 650 constituencies instead of 50 states, and that's for about 1/5th the population.

Plus if Biden wins then there will be a chance to vote for a (hopefully!) slightly more exciting, or at least less doddery, Democratic candidate in 2028. Whereas I'm doubtful if that election will be much more than an "election" if Trump wins again in November.

Yeah I'm registered to vote in LA, but I'm not registered within a particular party.
