"Cognitive distortions occur when we process information in ways that result in verifiable errors in thinking. In the study of gender, two biases have been identified: alpha bias, where researchers emphasise gender differences, and beta bias where researchers minimise gender differences. In this presentation we postulate a newly identified cognitive distortion in relation to gender, gamma bias, which simultaneously magnifies some aspects of gender and minimises others. This presentation also showcases an animation, created with the help of Jordan Holbrook, which visually demonstrates gamma bias and the gender distortion matrix."
