gambling and sports have been involved with eachother since eachothers inception. but over the past few years, sports betting has become legal in more and more states in the us leading to partnerships between profesional sports leagues and sportsbooks, as well as sports netwroks with sportsbooks. i like to gamble, and i like sports, but ive grown to hate how much iits been promoted and predatory it can be. i am for the legalisation of it, but it gets exhausting. the main thing i think of here, is this a bubble? is it ever going to pop?
this past week two concerning stories have developed regarding gambling and professional leagues/players.
the biggest name in baseball's interpreter apparently stole 4.5 million dollars from him to pay off gambling debts. there are an array of questions that bounce from one to the next that i dont feel like going through, but the story cant be as cut and dry as the official story is being made
then with the nba

a bench player is being investigated for playing poorly so his unders cash. as there were big bets coming in on those unders.
again theres a lot more to both of these stories, but still, how big does this bubble get until it blows up in the leagues faces who partner with sportsbooks, and then have to deal with their players involved with gambling "scandals". yes partnering with companies doesnt mean theyre saying hey players u should bet with these companies, but it sure is funny seeing these stories arise as gambling becomes more and more prevalent in this society.
