I loved the boxing - I paid for a cheap ticket on the upper stands behind the mesh wire, so it was like being on an old football terrace in a cloud of cigarette smoke... bookies with money pouches were running up and down the steps, flashing notes and doing sums on their fingers in the air, and somehow keeping track of everyone's bets. And then nodding Thai women were running up close behind them, selling bottles of Chang and peanuts.
