Still on the Hitchcock marathon. Notorious was genuinely one of the best films I’ve ever seen. Ingrid Bergman’s performance is the most natural and believable acting I’ve ever seen in a movie from the 40s, a hurtfully sympathetic character and incredibly beautiful. I’m never one for romance but the way its built into the plot made it unusually compelling for me. Excellent film in every way with a satisfying ending. Reviews claiming it marks a step in maturity for Hitchcock are correct.
Rebecca was beautiful to look at, a little funny, certainly absorbing and worth watching, but not as deep or as touching a picture.
