Can we define this thing?

People say they are "Broken" which i think just means PTSD?

there is the longstanding "Broken Britain" meme from before Brexit which still wafts around vaguely... MAGA kind of relies on it too

really it's meaningless soft right negativity which maybe we should dispel?

It is if it’s Lukaku’s reminiscence at what could have been, absolutely

Problem is as you identify - broken can shift to ‘shithole‘ rapidly via a rw national outlook, eg broken Britain, broken NHS, broken London, broken roads, broken errm housing stock oh no I converged on grim Britannia too rapid

PTSD is more by gradations, plenty of us manage to get on with life to dispel enough of a sense of the myth of being broken. Access is the issue (broken NHS) and if you don’t have access you can very much spend a lifetime in a cupboard utterly broken. Every psych ward visitation through advocacy outreach attests to such

Interesting difference: the left don't like the idea of a broken society, but they also don't like the idea of a perfectly healthy individual and willingly indulge their problems; in fact they reward themselves for having problems through pampering with therapy and the like.

For the left a society made of broken individuals is not a broken society, while for the right a society composed of healthy individuals can be broken.

I think it boils down to lefties feeling that it's normal to have problems and that something normal is not broken. While righties pretend the opposite and thereby are more idealistic, perhaps making a rod for their own backs.

For the left evident problems do not mean broken e.g. the ideal lefty school has every child with an identified special need and accommodations made, while the ideal righty school has no identified special needs and the accommodations being the teacher telling children to pull their socks up, stop being silly etc.

Yes. Left wing is care focused. Right wing is competence focused. Left wing is the mother, right wing is the father.

I think the political binary comes from differing mate selection: more manly men win the more feminine women and, being more assertive, create an overall orientation towards competitive competence.

Less feminine more assertive women pair with the less assertive men and create a more feminine ethos.

Care is at the heart of the more feminine ethos because women can be sure that a child is theirs. Left wing politics aims to guarantee everyone's wellbeing, reflecting the mother's attitude.

Men are less sure of their offspring's provenance and so care less about the wellbeing of individual offspring. Men can also pass on their genes epigenetically by influencing the culture and practices of the tribe, hence the male drive to command more influence over other men.

I just thought this so don't know if it's original but mapping a great sex polarity into politics makes sense.
