I like Clara La San and I think she has this amazing ability to create *moods*, but there is something I find a bit frustrating about her — which stops me enjoying her music as I want to — and a few months I came to the conclusion that it's her lyrics, which can sometimes be pretty weak and undermine her production, which is really great, and voice, which is maybe not anything special but suits her music perfectly.

Like, this is one of the highlights of Made Mistakes for me, but because of the lyrics that "I can't deny I like it baby" bridge is just really... naff?

Anyway, a couple other standouts from the album for me:

I'm curious how the remake of Good Mourning turns out, as I think that new version of Unplanned that Mistersloane shared is inferior to the original — the new ad libs sit weirdly in the mix and she's dialed back the drama a bit.

Yeah I like the chopped not slopped version of Made Mistakes alot, I like the original less. I like the vibe though, Cassie on downers.

This is a matter of taste so not meant as a diss on anything people enjoy, but is there any modern pop music with vocals that aren't heavily affected by autotune and such?
and where the music doesn't have this unreal vr quality where they've gotten rid of anything that might be even the slightest bit "troublesome" about the sound...
I don't know if I know how to explain it properly...

"That which is not slightly distorted lacks sensible appeal: from which it follows that irregularity - that is to say, the unexpected, surprise and astonishment, are an essential part and characteristic of beauty."

That's just the production process these days, isn't it? The way the loudness wars were in the 90s. Everything's built to the industry standard.

The new album was great, but this year i've been listening to her 2017 thing with Jam City on repeat. Looks like she is re-issuing it in December after wiping it off the web which is great news.
