An aunt said to me that when I could play this, that I would be a good drummer.

For those that aren't familiar with the original version by the Surfaris which isn't as good as that Ventures version:

One thing that I will point out though is that as amazing some drumming looks, it's actually easier on some levels (especially if we're talking about the original Surfaris version) than playing a more syncopated rhythm, a funky rhythm, because that requires more coordination between the hands and feet to hit and accent things in different timings, not to mention ghost notes.
Back when I still played drums, there would be some drummers that could play really wild and fast (props to them of course), and I wouldn't be able to play like them, but then I would lay down a funky groove and they just couldn't do it.

not comparing myself to the man though

‘today’ side 2 is a thing. the most delicate (e bit over-earnest, of course) boy-girl shit ever, all in terrible granny’s bathroom carpet jumpers. and then the chorus to ‘please let me wonder’ takes my head clean off again (or frothing tingles starting at temples and invading the crown of my head) and I’m in for good…again. also poss the first solidly sequenced all gold album side in pop (well, one throwaway filler bit at the end), all b4 beatles w rubber soul e yadda yadda. the harmonies already sound eerie and weird if you listen..
