getting pounded

There used to be a gay club called The Pink Pounder which I thought was a great name... for our US friends, at that time there used to be a lot of talk about the spending power of gays whom the country was suddenly realising had a lot of money cos they didn't have to waste it on children, this phenomenon was often called the pink pound.

I went to see Aaron Liberator in Oxford in Jan. Maybe not the poundingest (as you Americans say) but it's about as hard as I go as it were

I like the second track that goes

Rock n roll, on the dole
Getting wrecked every day
Is there any other way?

While the acid line completely loses control and spaffs its pants over the top.

There is something admirable in the Liberator djs single minded dedication to boshing exactly this stuff out every single weekend (ie from Wednesday to Monday) for the last, what, 35 years? Even splitting forces so they can bring the acid to three places at once... Stay Up For Ever!

Subhead link looks too long for some reason

bordered free/squat, continental ranged techno, Phil 18 years deceased. Heard out a bunch of times after being coerced/wrong place right time/events combining sounds (techno isn’t a first choice knees up)

Instead of posting tracks, maybe better personal contribution is to endorse looking for sets by BWPT, Ugly Funk (Grant!), all flooded with lesser known releases assuming they’re not live sets

preferred to avoid the pc live set chaos of Desert Storm type rigs because ket but always exceptions

JE5 haven’t seen for years, underrated treasure of techno knowledge and music beyond

Esther Ofei was Nottingham for time, if you want pounding @shakahislop look her up, relentless in her early years zero compromise lass with ears you can trust. Fwiw she once claimed Nail’s lp “Big D’s Lounge” did for pounding house (with deftness to boot) what other locals did for techno eg Mark Hawkins. She was right about the Nail lp ..

I used to love, when I still had software, running a D16 909 emulator through distortion, turn down the attack so you get more of a thump than a pound, what I call the Poindexter bounce, like a lot of old 'tracky' early 90s Chicago records.

thank the gods the pics are dead

you could post endlessly with Detroit releases but there is a D thread - few late era avinit choons I’ll ever quite forget from shared houses/flats and other people’s records

I remember reading about that team when I was at university in Nottingham. I wonder what on earth that name Inter Avinit could mean though, I just can't figure it out... oh luckily they explain it

You have got it, right? The joke? Inter is the shortened name for grand old Milanese club, FC Internazionale – wisely, they chose the first five letters as the abbreviation, and not the next four – and Avinit, with more than a nod to the Liberator DJs mix CD, It’s not Intelligent…It’s not from Detroit…But it’s F****n ‘avinit! was slang for, you know, getting on it. We were a football club that was – are you still following this, kids? – into ‘having it’. Ergo: FC Inter Avinit

I never would have figured that out but it's very clever.
