Good tunes from bad samples

I just realised the start of this German Trance tune is sampled by Roni Size & DJ Die in The Calling.

What other tunes are great but sample an otherwise cheesy tune?

don't think it's possible to sample a truly bad tune, that would make the sample itself irredeemable.

average sample source from the 'pompous futurists' (as Colin Faver once christened them.)

utterly transcendent

Circles is excellent in execution of the sample. When I have given all my records to a mate, it was the first tune he asked if I'd got.

I love mixing The Calling and hearing that sample come in. In my last mix I mixed it out of M Beat - Style and into 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse - Drowning in Her, then into On Remand - Black Steel.

Don't actually hugely rate Circles, too delicate and hertfordshire vibes, without the suave sophistication of your bukem/glr plates.

It's a bit like inviting the NME indie readers to your west london gak fuelled house party with beautiful people etc etc. just an incorrect proposition.

I also like Westchester Lady. Hoped Bob James would have some other decent tunes but he seems a bit loungey.

this gets close, granted. full on italian Mozzarella. still, got to admire it's heartfelt naivete.

Obviously in the hands of DJ Rap and Nookie it is revelatory.

Not really relevant, but was just gonna say that my internet went down about 12 hours ago just as I was making this post so it's nice that dissensus remembers what you were writing so you don't have to write it all again.
Anyway...
I'd say that nothing should be irredeemable depending on what you do with it.
For example, I transformed this random vocal harmony sample (first you will hear the original sample for ~15 seconds, then you will hear what I changed it into (it's all 100% made from that vocal harmony sample) and then drums (something I chopped into half tempo from a dnb loop) and then bass and other stuff will kick in, then i cut it all off after about a minute)

That's nifty work there mate.

I wish I still had Logic. I had a template set up where I could load a few acapella chops and it would play endlessly and random.

Generative music, stochastic. Whatever you want to call it. Never the same sound twice, from about 10 vocal snippets.

If I started adding more effects to it I reckon I could make something wicked.

That's basically this MMorph morphing between two vocal chops, played on two channels using Logics random MIDI functions.

Best one I did was 'First Time I Ever Saw Your Face' acapella. As it kept saying First First First... and I felt like the first one to ever do that. You could package it up in a little music box that plays endlessly different stuff.
