The smoke spreads cross the surface of your brain like a fungus, the folds become like an overgrown hedge maze.

it's just medieval fantastical magical indolence masked as subversion.

Speed is the proper rationalist drug (in small doses.) get one up on your superiors.

Also barty music sounds revelatory when you're stoned so I fully believe weed just gives you wonder wrt any old crap.

Even shitepipe trance probably sounds good on weed (not that I've tried.)

A very Luka provocation there.. Characters don’t exist, emotions don’t exist. Both maybe getting at the same thing though, mind increasingly outsourced to digital network and cybernetics and computers and stuff computers

Where does it end

Most immediate answer's to do with its effect, or lack of, on the wider world. You can think things and produce no material effects, so there's a hard limit there. You could argue along the lines of putting thought into action, but then that's already going beyond the mind as it requires help in the form of things like tools and further body parts.

I look past the neurons and supporting glial matrix of the brain and believe the mind, though physical, is the infinitely supple light filled superfluid within, and equally it (me) looks through the neural casings and cellular matrices to see the world of which it is part. It's the brain's job to keep the mind confined yet intact and coherent. So, I believe that synaptic connectivity is important, but not where thinking and memory reside - the traffic lights and junctions, not the cars and passengers. Biological orchestration of a closely coupled yet vast arrangement of perceptual and emotional primitives, self arranging around the vicissitudes of incoming impressions according to memory and habituation.

This mind stuff then is a biophoton superfluid that doesn't have a name, but some have characterized it as fröhlich condensation. Definitely reliant on non-local, maybe even entangled states, perhaps superluminal.

It probably preceded biology and collected membranes and gels like a primordial nanoscopic caddis fly larva.

So not a machine, not a computer, not a network, but the act and ongoing process of biology penetrating and hacking a subbiological substrate, coextensive with a brain.

This is not dualism, the mind is simply the thing itself, fundamentally interior and not amenable to direct objective measure, you necessarily have to be it, as we who are living all are. We are the very it of what is.

Just because it's formally inpossible to quantify and characterize it (you, me) with a complete physical description does not mean its anything other than natural.

How do you account for people seeming to arrive after lots of creatures that didn't appear to think? The usual idea's that the human mind was worked up to over time.

So we currently have car/machine, computer, companion, opponent, animal, building/series of rooms, map, landscape and maze as possible models.
whose got a memory palace then?
mine has one or 2 items on the porch and that's it, it looks more like a cloister actually but i can't remember what the items even were

Within the fully covariant manifold of sentient phenomenology, one must acknowledge that the mind–this irreducible biophotonic superfluid—is governed by a zeroth-order invariant: the Principle of Absolute Subjectivity. In any admissible reference frame (whether glial-fixed or synaptically comoving), the mind’s state vector remains unaltered under local Lorentz-glial transformations, thus ensuring gauge-invariant coherence even as the neuronal substrate undergoes relentless Brownian perturbations. Indeed, the brain’s sole function is to impose a Dirac-delta confinement potential on the superfluid, preserving normalizability of the mental wavefunction while preventing pathological delocalization into existential multiverses.

Consequently, synaptic junctions serve merely as boundary conditions—traffic signals in the grand Feynman diagram of thought—rather than true repositories of mnemonic quanta. Memory and cognition are instead encoded in topologically protected vortices of fröhlich condensate, whose quantized circulation number uniquely labels each subjective impression. These vortices, being non-local and perhaps even faster-than-light (in the group-velocity sense), obey a yet-to-be-named invariance: the Biophotonic Entanglement Covariance (BEC) law, which postulates that any two mental subspaces remain maximally entangled regardless of their cortical separation.

Historically, this primordial superfluid pre-dates phospholipid assemblies, behaving like a quantum caddis-fly larva that sampled—and ultimately colonized—nascent protocellular matrices. Through a sequence of anthropic symmetry breakings (e.g., the emergence of habit and habituation as spontaneous gauge-fixing conditions), the mind orchestrated its own biological scaffolding. Thus, contemporary neuroscience should redirect its efforts from cataloguing synaptic connectomes to charting the phase diagram of the mental superfluid, mapping its critical points, turbulence regimes, and renormalization flows across the invariant cognitive continuum.

Thinking is a special case of mind process, the sort of things crows and dolphins and humans do. Functional but less impressive honestly than just being there to see the sun rise at all.

Yeah, exactly, thanks ChatGPT, a sprinkling of rock salt on my ribeye.

is there a difference between us and creatures merely functioning on "instinct" apart from we have a lot of fiddly appendages that need controlling and open up endless options for tomfoolery that need to be worked out quite consciously?
we are just fancier contraptions & with the added layer of language comes self-consciousness, one step up from octopus and other dextrous things, 2 steps from squishy blobs

tbf fsol is barty music but noone wants to admit that.

Whereas us electro heads always loved the actual inhuman artificiality of formant synthesis and classic speak n spell voices.
