With a few exceptions, nearly all behavior that is part of common social awareness is "on the table" for interrogation, challenge, censure. You are submitting to "The Teaching Machine" anytime any process of consequence is observing you. (Cybernetic reflexivity.) This is a (the?) basic fact of social life. This is also a big reason why people dread talking to / spending time with their parents, in my experience

Bay Area blogosphere talk a decade now's been egregoric possession and schizodemons. Algorithmic manipulation and dopamine hijacking. Very little felt sense of control. Sense that the teaching machine is running you like a puppet. What's that ant-zombie parasite? Cordyceps?

But the more horrifying realization that you too partake, possess, parasitize. How many of us have a strong handle on the voices that run through them? The waves we pass on; the waves that pass through us. The tongues we speak out with and that speak through us. And everything in our lives is this way.

Decades ago, late at night while people were sleeping, the cops came to arrest my mom over some dumb shit (something like failure to appear in court regarding a vehicle inspection sticker), and so my mom asked them if she could change from her sleepwear into something else .
She went back and dug through her clothes for a few minutes, and eventually came back and said "sorry, I can't find anything with stripes" 😆

I can cry at movies and music. I cry thinking about death. I don’t think news does much to me anymore…. I see it and it’s bad… but I just don’t know what to do…. They say that you are more susceptible to your feelings right when you wake up so it’s easier to get your feelings hurt when u log on right after waking
