Hmm. LFO'd bass just sounds a bit silly especially when taken to cartoonish excess. Wheras deep sub allows a lot more melodic/rhyhmic detail to float on top, whilst still being crushingly heavy in a club environment.
Loving that Dubsta Shackleton mix at the moment. His drum programming is emblematic of how kinetic post-halfstep can be when its not trapped in wobbly minimalism.
