it really rocks

Neat find. Still prefer the original--this version lacks a little of the energy/immediacy (mainly by holding the same tone for so long, lacking the quick analogue-syth shifts of the original) but this version is a cool tune.

I guess this is sort of like the version of the track had it actually been a rave-era track rather than new wave era?

Yeah no kidding, the difference between a song and a track. I think the original works much better as a song, but if I were wanting to throw this track down in the middle of a techno set, that edit would be the perfect fit...interesting though how easy it was to take the song from one genre to the other.

Thanks to you both, glad you dig it. If I ever made more physical copies of the 1981 box, maybe I'd graduate this into a proper CD, rather than (mostly) a playlist on the mp3 disc. . .

As a professed non-lyrics-listener/non-Deutsche sprecher, I'm not sure I recall which track is the one you're referencing, Noma. . .

As a sidenote, the Weltklang blokes turned out to be quite friendly, requested a copy of this mix and said they quite enjoyed it. Didn't think to ask them what they thought of the remix. . .
