36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, Cuban Lynx, Supreme Clientele.

GZA was on a Prefuse 73 track on 'Surrounded by Silence", which was dope, in spite of the fact that Masta Killa, the rapping Bez, also featured.

what are you on about? masta killa's 'no said date' was the best wu-tang album for years when it came out. masta killa has consistently gotten better over time (although, admittedly, the new one was a bit of a letdown) while guys like inspectah deck and, yes, gza just sound more uninspired with each passing year.

I think the guy above, well his list was too long. But you have to get, I'd say

Heavy Mental Killah Priest
Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars Killarmy
6 Feet Deep Gravediggaz
The first Wu Tang Killer Bees comp
Take another 80 listens to Wu Tang Forevr because it's insane

Second tier (very good, not amazing, or fucked-up-wierd like first Killarmy)

The Pillage Cappadona
The Axe, The Pick, The Shuvel Gravediggaz
Dirty Weaponary Killarmy
The Last Shall Be First Sunz of Man
Golden Arms U-God
Supreme Cliantele Ghost Face Killah
Beneath the Surface GZA (for, in particlar, title track with Killah Priest)
Bobby Digital in Stereo RZA (with cameo from the adorable Lisa I'Anson)

I assume we're not counting the 93-95 golden rush in this list.

Just get the first Killah Priest album. That is something else, even without RZA.

Wierdly, or understandably, all post-9/11 Wu records are rubbish.

Masta Killa's a genius, but his albums have been lame.

Put in a vote for Ghost Dog too, I guess.

GZA's "Beneath The Surface" was cool...but it was a letdown (what WOULDN'T BE?) in comparison to the audio perfection that was "Liquid Swords". Even Ol' Dirty Bastards "Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version" was a chaotic masterpiece...his "N*gga Please" LP was a solid LP as well.

"Golden Arms Redemption", "The Yin and The Yang" and "Tical 0" were all equivalent to burning trash in the streets of a war ravaged country.

One.

Raekwon - Only Built For Cuban Links
GZA - Liquid Swords (the Instrumentals)

RZA = genius

btw, Ghostface = best mc of all time. YES HE IS.

heavy heavy monster sound
If we beg Poisonous Dart en mass, we may be able to get him to upload the full versions of the Wu Tang demo, which to me are just pinnacles of raw uncut shit.

It's a pointless thread for this boy unless we assume he already has Enter...The 36 Chambers, Tical, Only Bulit...for Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords.

For a similar area, but not Wu Tang however, I'd also mention

There Iz a Darskside Redman
The Infamous... Mobb Deep
Goodfellas Show & AG

All similar, dark & gorgeous & heavy & sublime, same years, 93 to as I say NY 95.

And, first Blazhey Blazhey album, yes.

lol dude even stated, clearly, that he has all these albums. Waste. Sorry, I got over excited cos I been listening to these albums every day for last two weeks. *But*, there was an unstated point to my post.... more than any other albums, these are the two that showcase Rza's genius, superbly. And they were the only two albums were Rza was unassisted by any engineers, everything you hear is him, beats, mixdowns, recordings, edits, everything.

it's true, there is something about 95-96 that feels end of the road, on the border of a precipice. a lot of things from the time have this twilight quality. the introduction to mobb deep's g.o.d pt III is an example of this, very chilling.

Oh dear. Seems I'm STILL the only person who thinks Iron Flag is the bomb.

Apart from the obvious ones listed (everything from 93-97, plus everything by Ghostface), shout out too for No Said Date and GZA's Legend Of The Liquid Sword. Hellrazah from Sonz Of Man has a new album which sounds dope, but the use of spoilers every 20 seconds or so makes the promo unlistenable.
