it's always been big over here, but so have the puerto rican day parade and the DR parade and the carnival in crown heights and the italian street fair in little italy...

i don't know that it's about "pretending" to be irish, so much as it's about pride on the part of irish-americans. since it was created here and all.

the tradition at home in N.Ireland tends to be evryone under 18 goin to the nearest border town and fucking and pissing in the streets. I spent all day saturday drinking vodka and redbull in penance for their sins
