They have it down as 'Long Time Running.'

From the bits I've heard of it, I think this album is over-rated. The production sounds papery.

What have you heard? Are you judging the production based on the MP3 clips?

Its true that the old pirate has his own sound going on - but like with Burials stuff, Id rather have great tunes that aren't super compressed and ultra loud dancefloor productions, than shit tunes that are brilliantly produced.

Yes, the mp3 clips BUT it's still possible, for instance, to tell that most of the amens he has used aren't particularly interestingly processed (they sound like the amens I was using when I started making stuff myself). It's not really compression that I think is missing, more a rougher edge/better selection of sounds. The free album of his had the same issues: occasional dodgy selection of sounds that are too clean or cliched.

The pitched-up/down vocal snippets also sound a bit amateurish.

(IMHO)

I think 'rougher edge' describes his sound quite well actually. :) Have to disagree with you about the vocal samples, and I think this CD has a hugely diverse range of sample sources - far from cliched. I do agree about his breaks though - he tends not to process them that much - just cuts them up, and adjusts pitch, EQs and compression, in fact his whole process is based on relatively simple sample manipulations, how this music was originally produced - and something that I don't see as a negative really.

Grande Illusions was a collection of unfinished tunes - its a different kettle of fish.

I am of course biased. We wouldn't have released it if we didn't love it! You should buy a copy and give it a proper listen. It'll grow on you. ;)

Points taken - if I see it cheap on my travels it shall be snapped up sharpish! :D

:D It all comes down to taste in the end - if you like it you like it...

I wouldve thought £8.99 on Boomkat was pretty cheap though?
