A FAKTION HALLOWEEN BASS EXORCISM

JOKER [TERRORRHYTHM/KAPSIZE] - DJ
PEVERELIST [PUNCH DRUNK/SKULL DISCO] - DJ
SAMRAI [SWINGTING] - DJ
THE AEROBIQ MYSTIQ [FAKTION] - DJ

31st OCTOBER

SAKI BAR, WILMSLOW RD,
RUSHOLME, MANCHESTER

£7

We're returning to our favourite Shisha bar-cum-club, Saki Bar for a one-off halloween night of grime terror and dubstep mutations from Bristol's finest, a.k.a Joker & Peverelist.

Joker has steadily become a name to watch over the last two years with a sparse but incredible output for the likes of Plasticman's Terrorhythm records and his own Kapsize outlet. His synthline laden brand of G-funked grime and dubstep hybrids have drawn comparisons to everyone from Kode9 to The Neptunes but it's tracks like 'Snake Eater' that have set this young'un waaay out alongside the new generation of beat technicians like Rustie or Zomby. If you need further proof, check his set for Mary-Anne Hobbs' Generation Bass show and get wowed.

Peverelist is a firm favourite of the Faktion crew. Besides his very healthy involvement with the Bristol scene, from nurturing talent like Joker to running the city's finest record shop, Rooted, Peverelist has come to define the whole dubstepXtechno mutation that makes us buzz so much. His style combines a respectful love of Berlin-style dub techno from the likes of Basic Channel or T++, with the guttural bass reverberations of Bristol's soundsystem heritage and a distinctly UK Garage flavour for a unique and absolutely wicked sound.

After hearing Mr Samrai's slinky 2-step and garage mixes we couldn't really ask anyone else to warm up for these fellas, so expect a blend of the freshest LDN Funky styles and lady lovin' riddims freshly imported from the big smirk from the man Samrai. Faktion resident the Aerobiq Mystiq will provide the neccessary bass exorcisms when the others aren't playing.

and finally, yes, Fancy Dress is optional, we know a few of you can't wait to get into character so feel free to crack out your plastic teef and white sheets.

A FAKTION DANCE PARTY...

SHED [OSTGUT TON/SOLOACTION/DELSIN] - LIVE
BODYCODE a.k.a PORTABLE [SUD/SPECTRAL SOUND/PERLON]
PADROW & THE AEROBIQ MYSTIQ [FAKTION]

7th NOVEMBER 2008

@ SSR, 65-69 DOWNING STREET,
MANCHESTER, M1 2JW

£10

For the next Faktion SSR party we've invited two of the finest techno and house producers in the world to perform their in demand live sets.

Bodycode a.k.a Portable a.k.a Alan Abrahams is the man behind an inimitable string of releases for his own Sud Electronic imprint, Spectral Sound, ~SCAPE and Perlon. Alan's sound was birthed in his home city of Cape Town, SA, and combined the sound of early Chicago house with the African soul and Hi-Life of his native country. These influences melt together into a richly percussive and irresistable house flavour which has made him one of the most highly respected and in-demand dancefloor live acts in the world, so yeah, we're excited to have him over.

Another artist we've been following for years now is Shed. Since 2004, this mysterious producer has been pumping out essential Detroit techno tackle, with his first 12" 'Red Planet express' mistaken by some as a new Drexciya related project. In the meantime Shed has come to define the Berlin/Detroit relationship, with a succession of tough club tools alleviated by an ebulliant Detroit spirit and sharply honed German engineering, that basically means his tracks sound fucking amazing on a good soundsystem. This live date is in support of his amazing 'Shedding The Past' album, which we thoroughly recommend you check out.

If you're up for a dance the Faktion residents Padrow and the Aerobiq Mystiq will put you through your paces with a specific selection of new and classic house & techno to keep you moving til the lights come on.
