...its a bitch.

I'm sure I'm not the only dissensian suffering from this. Mine's not really bad yet but I can feel the nasty twinges creeping in in my right hand. I use a laptop at work and at home, so its from using a touchpad all the time. I have tried to switching to a mouse but it still fucking knacks and I don't want it getting any worse. Someone at work was telling me about Carpal tunnel syndrome the other day and it freaked my out.

What I wanna know is are there any decent exercises you can do to ease the strain? I don't fancy wearing one of those hideous glove things.

Any tips?

No tips, but ask your GP for a specialist appointment - exaggerate if necessary - cos there's a fair chance it's gonna get worse. If this is work-related you really don't want to take any chances (current climate and all that).

oh yeah and try to reduce the amount of time you spend using a keyboard etc. give it a rest.

Fortunately I don't get it, but I've seen those specially shaped keyboards you can buy - are they any good?

I had it really really bad. Got rid of it. How: learned to use a keyboard and mouse properly (posture is key), started having regular breaks from typing (at least every 30 minutes for a few minutes), started doing various forms of physical exercise. Key is diversity. RSI come from too little variation in one's body usage. Took a few weeks to disappear. Comes back every time I forget what I've learned and fall back into bad old postural habits.

I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that the best exercise is ... dancing.

Now you have an official reason to go clubbing 6 nights a week.

I had this really bad when I was a teen playing instruments all the time and such...

I know they're awful but the only thing that helped was wearing the braces at night, and cutting way back on repetitive movements.

Cheers guys, good advice here. Its pretty obvious that cutting down is the way to go. I knew this already of course but didn't wanna admit it to myself!
