Pollen @ The Tube - w/ Bullion & Metske - 5th February.

Rekordah

Did You?
February sees Pollen up sticks and head across town to The Tube for what we think is the perfect setting for forward thinking beat music. Previous events with Mike Slott, Lone, Clause Four, Phaeleh, Russian Linesman, Kelly Twins, ThinKing and Rekordah have set the stage for a series of events aimed at the mind as well as the booty at our new venue. Starting things off gigwise we'll be bringing one of the most talked about producers in the game for his Bristol debut and what will be Bristol's 1st Skweee showcase! Then we'll be taking the tempo up to dance floor level with Dubstep, Crunk & Beyond!

BULLION

(One-Handed Music//Tru Thoughts//Domino)

http://www.myspace.com/bullionness

"The West London beat freak with the midas touch," as Dazed & Confused put it, is one of the hottest young producer-DJs in the UK. He's notched up more plaudits for his debut single, Get Familiar, than most artists get in a career.

Mary Anne Hobbs declared that Bullion's music "literally stopped me in my tracks" and invited him straight in for a Radio 1 DJ mix and he can count Gilles Peterson, Benji B, legendary US DJ Jason Bentley of KCRW LA, Phil Asher and the Turntablelab crew amongst his many fans around the world.

His DJ gigs, mixes & remixes of the likes of Tricky and Osborne have established him as far more than a one-hit wonder: Bullion is a selector & producer with great taste, an individual, eclectic approach and a refined ear for what works on the dancefloor without resorting to the obvious or lazy classics.

And did we mention his Pet Sounds: In The Key of Dee remix project was downloaded over 100,000 times, landed him onstage at the Big Chill festival, and ended up in the New York Village Voice 'Albums of the Year' list?"

Alex Chase (One-Handed Music)

We're incredibly happy to be bringing this absolutely gifted beatmaker to Bristol for the first time. Bullion first got our attention a couple of years ago now with his fantastic album Pet Sounds: in the Key of Dee, flipping The Beach Boys' album with raw and powerful Dilla style editing to beautiful effect. His Get Familar 7" which came out on Alex Chase's One-Handed Music label last year turned more than a few heads and Bullion has since remixed the likes of Tricky and Ahu (Dolly). He's got a few more releases lined up and if the limited edition 7" that came out recently is anything to go by, he is going to continue to make very big waves.

METSKE

(LIVE///Harmönia///Flogsta Danshall//Wigflex)

"The "new sound of Scandinavia" Originally from Scandinavia, Skweee combines very simple synth leads and basslines with the rhythms of funk, RnB and soul. It is a flourishing community based around online networks that are moving beyond those frontiers thanks to their personal overhaul of dance music. Flogsta Danshall brings us the prime movers from the heart of Sweden. We call it skweee Working on a network and with a permanent connection with Flogsta Danshall and the rest of the world, Finland's Harmönia label is one of the standard bearers of the new sound that is coming in from the cold and which they themselves have christened skweee - simple but effective synths and basslines, coated with funk, R'n'B and soul. Discover it for yourself, courtesy of the Finnish school."

Harmönia

Nottingham's Metske originally made his name as Metaphi destroying dance floors with his blend of Dubstep, Minimal Techno & Glitch Hop. Then he started dabbling with the off kilter beat music from Scandinavia called Skweee and landed a string of quality releases with the founding labels Harmönia & Flogsta Danshall, making him the UK's number 1 in the scene. His live set combines analogue synths & Ableton Live to devastating effect, he may well take things up to Metaphi tempos and blow the roof off afterwards as well!
