SPYRO (Rinse FM)
http://www.myspace.com/sirspyro
Spyro is one of grime's key DJs, able to influence artists' success considerably through his weekly Rinse FM show. More importantly for us, in the club he's known for using every trick and technique possible with CDJs to roll out fast blends of vocals, instrumentals, UK funky and garage. Basically, he's an amazing DJ, rolling with a bag full of specials as a bonus.

EMVEE (Wireblock)

Emvee is one of fairly few new bassline producers to really catch our ear recently. His grimy, unpretentious tunes are, at the same time, distinctive and miles more developed than a lot of others'. He's also versatile, with his own take on funky -- an example of which, 'Glitch Dub', is coming out soon on the Wireblock label, curated by Numbers resident and Dress 2 Sweat boss Jackmaster.

MARTIN KEMP

Martin Kemp's sinuous, alien-sounding tracks -- pretty much undescribable but somewhere on the fringes of funky, garage, dubstep and techno -- are currently being hammered by likeminded producer Cooly G and more imaginative dubstep DJs such as Brackles. He's got something special going on, particularly as his tracks are so much more honest and unselfconscious than a lot of the music at the moment that's claimed to be this good.

BLAZEY & DJ SHANDY

http://www.myspace.com/crazylegsclub
Blazey is one of Bristol's best known home-grown DJs and a Sidewinder and Bodynod resident. Blazey's approach to DJing -- flipping between dubstep, bassline and grime in the same set -- was a major inspiration behind the sound of one of Bristol's strongest clubnights Crazylegs. Speaking of which, joining him is our pal Shandy, who takes care of the bookings at Crazylegs. It has plenty in common with Wifey musically, though fortunately doesn't share too much of our organisational ethic. (This is why they've just co-hosted a rave with Mad Decent and Bugged Out and we haven't.)

Watch out for the second Crazylegs mixtape (following on from Smutlee's) put together by Blazey and due on 7 June. We'll be giving away CD copies on the night.
