I do get the feeling he isn't speaking for the rest of the group. I can easily imagine Thom sitting up for hours fiddling with every last nuance of the sound long after cloth-eared Johnny has fucked off to bed.

Actually that would not be the case... thom did a guest dj and he talked about that.

However that isnt to say he isnt a perfectionist. Its safe to say he is, independent of whether or not you think their music is perfect.

There is definitely a difference between trying to get "the exact sound" (lol....) the record was intended produce vs. appreciating the nuances of different systems setups and audible characteristics.
