yeah probably the least exciting line up for a while..

tunnidge b2b cyrus will be good tho.

doing a fat cycle ride on sunday so not gonna make it... shame really cos last year's summer blazedown (quest, silkie, oneman etc.) was easily one of the best nights i've ever been to.

Not doing the Dynamo this year then?:D My sister and some mates are doing it - I'm going to let them do it this year and see how they fare and then judge if i'm up to it next year!

Yeah think I'll check out Theo..

nah givin it a miss this year cos my girlfriend wanted to do it but it would have taken her about 19 hours, so we decided to do a daytime ride on sunday instead...

feels like AGES since N-type played at DMZ.

p.s. anyone know what's happening with the Distant Lights E.P repress?? it was on redeye as a pre-order and now totally disappeared!

Do not read this.
It has definately been re-pressed mate, I saw someone mentioning it on DSF, erm, do you know that new record shop thats opened in Bath??

Im certain I saw a thread on DSF with all there new releases on it, should be on the main page, cant rem the title now (that info may be useless, my apologies)

Bring out the vacuum

Haha, fair call. :D

90s New Zealand hip-hop.

Flip yes.

I remember him saying in interviews in NZ that he didn't promote his own music in the UK because he didn't want his (superstar ) reputation as a DJ to give his band undeserved publicity. Is this still the case? They win awards here, which is a bit depressing.

the day today tonight
We just had Kode 9 over for his first visit.

He's just so good. Great to hear diversity: lots of big funky tracks (apple, that gabryelle tune), general synth madness, tech dubstep, and some jungle towards the end.

Chef's FWD set was sounding pretty good on the Rinse stream last night. Should probably have posted about it in the radio thread at the time. But I didn't. :)

what kinda things was he playing? I left about 3 tunes into youngsta's set yesterday. Would love a recording of the oneman set. he played about 3 tracks which absolutely destroyed the place yesterday, one of them sounded like a new joker beat but with a slightly harder edge - possibly a collabo with skream.

My first time at FWD yesterday....not sure who was who to be entirely honest, but there were some Joker-esque synths in a couple of tunes that destroyed (mistersloane to thread!)..... someone (Oneman?) was playing a female-vocalled garagey successor to Booo!" type tune that I would love someone to identify....

Chef seemed to be playing a lot of wobblers (I was drunk, so don't quote me, but i think I can safely say this, however). I'm not usually into that, but it was good, and that sound system is mint.

I expected to be disappointed, having intended to go to Fwd since 2002, but I wasn't. Great stuff.

And can I just say....it's 4am, and I'm listening to that Guido mix for the millionth time...and he is sounding like the best producer in the world. That tune "You Do It Right"(?) is SICK**.

Totally different sound, and maybe it's just because it's Bristol, but it's making me hit on when I first heard Tricky....there's a similar kind of utterly confident uniqueness there, for me at least.

When's he next in London? There's no way I'm gonna miss that.

**such an unsderstatement...

agree completely about the guido hype - i half-heartedly tried to probe him about doing more mixes/getting more tunes out there/dj-ing more.. i think he thinks there's no hurry, that he's still learning how to do this etc... which is totally fair. just frustrating for impatient people like me who have now played his high-rise mix about a billion times :)

EDIT: lest anyone not realise, when i said "dubstep has totally fallen off now" upthread, that was supposed to be an hilaaarious joke. yknow, the idea that someone on dsf could have been so so into caspa, but that when zane lowe discovered him, *that* was the point dubstep jumped the shark. jokes are so much funnier when you explain them at length, right? :-|
