LOVE both of those tracks, beautiful stuff. The DJ Ton track was upped by the same guy who upped the DJ Elmoe track and he marked that one as 2010 too so who knows when the Ton track is from.

The beats don't sound off at all on the Fad TMB track, they sound super tight, but are you saying you think the drums were nicked Mike?

no, juke/footwork does not love Evansense, just a few producers who made a few terrible tracks out of them

that Fad dude is a young guy from Australia btw

aww those evanesence samples give the tracks a whole different teen angst vibe though that makes them stand out and give them a particular emotion that makes em different from the more 'came out of house' older guys.

they're typical. if you look on any music board someone has started a thread on juke/footwurk and it will be loaded w/ comments like "it's not music", "is my computer broken?", "this is how low we've sunk", "i like footcrab but this is just noise", etc.

wheezy
haha love this little exchange though

'this is just noise' is always a promising start though i think.

serious infantile bullshit on that thread though, just a glance sees the same old crap you see endlessly, the same old insecure pricks who can't trust their own ears and instincts without coming off like grumbly old men.
However its also a shame neema still needs to allude to dj nate hating even in the same breath as celebrating this mix in the comments there, would seem unnecessary since the same uk label that is releasing nate is properly releasing and supporting the artists he manages such as dj rashad, and the future looks bright .

It's like macro and micro in-fighting even though chicago juke/ footwork artists of all types are getting their day in the sun, the bonus being that the ones that dj and make juke can tour and enjoy it right now too.

agreed. dude has a chip on his shoulder. nate's music was seminal. i'm glad as hell it's been documented.

Thanks for making my comment seem more important and valuable than it really is. But seriously, I run my own label out of Chicago, and I know enough people through secondhand sources that I could have easily put out a killa e or am elmoe album if I wanted to. I choose not to because I personally hate that music. And while I personally hate the music, I still helped Mike get in contact with a lot of people, and I didn't ask for money or anything, I did it out of respect for Mike and his passion for the music. I still maintain my position, but I never even called anyone out in particular, and more importantly, brought up the truth that there really isn't any new footwork mistake out there.

Finally, I'm happy and honored that mike p is putting out juke and footwork tracks, but understand that just because this music is new to England that it was not none intent everywhere else on earth. This music has been huge in France, germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain.

Basically, leave my name out of your mouth. I've never seen such a ridiculous troll in my life.

And seriously, I don't make a dime off of rashad other than the albums he releases with me. And trust me, anyone in the music business will tell you that it's not that much.

I'm not his manager, I'm his friend, as I'm friends with most people in the scene, be it producers, dancers, or die hard fans.

nah man.
we know your credentials as mr juke, and how you are deep in the scene etc...

so why is it important to you to drag some stuff like 'it seemed like the world was waiting to hear a footwork mix that wasn't made over 4 years ago by some teenagers who left the scene because they were never fully accepted by the scene.' like you did in the comments boxes of that xlr8r mix?

so i read that - i don't think your remarks are important but i think they are totally irrelevant and it just makes you look overly angry and insecure and childish, and its something you seem to do alot - you've brought up dj nate etc alot, here, guardian blog thing etc, maybe you don't even realise you're doing it - to your detriment i might add, esp since the people who you are refering to are as you say long gone and you can do really well from this groundswell of interest without resorting to that kinda crap.

so why don't you shut up about it and keep on with what your're doing very well other than this point, - getting your dues and doing your thing. it's bullshit, you're saying this publically and representing your crew as something of a spokesman, whether you realise it or not, and you need to get over it, you've got a good thing going on, and it doesn't need this negative irrelevant nonsense.

Just saying cos it's a real drag to read it to be honest, other people have noticed it too, it's not just me, and you don't need to do it and i'd love to see you take a deep breath and rise above it.

Neema can talk as much shit as he wants about DJ Nate...when someone who you don't like is representing a scene your deep into I don't see why you could not talk shit. Why would you want someone who isn't present to get the attention the guys who are actually there deserve? And seminal? I dunno about that...DJ Nate got a bunch of dorky white kids into footwork, which is kind of cool I guess? Planet Mu, Moveltrax, Hyperdub releasing stuff is definitely a dope thing, and Nate having that release is cool because a lot of people dig his tracks (99% of them are outside Chicago) and any exposure is cool, but Neema has worked very hard to get the right people out there, and is doing his own thing with the label. Personally I'd like a balance of Euro labels and good Chicago labels releasing this shit. DANCE MANIA 2!!!!

The people saying stupid shit like "footwork is the new IDM" are the people who seem more drawn to Nate and less convinced by the other dudes. I'm definitely not in that crowd, I like bangers more than beard scratchers.

Anyone on here come to see Rashad play at PS1? He played French Kiss. It ruled.

well all i'm saying is its a waste of time and energy as neema is representing too right now and doesn't need to diss someone who stopped making footwork tracks 2 years ago to make what he does big.

yeah 'footwork is the new idm' is off key, for sure, thats just ignorance of the background of the music etc, and perhaps a consequence of the music not getting released on say ministry of sound or a more street level label in the uk, (or ffrr like lil louis) but one that once used to put out idmish stuff, and occasionally still does amongst the dubstep and funky electronics.

but its not this bullshit 'white' slur or 'idm' or whatever really, i mean have you found some sort of gene in white people who like electronic music that make them like dj nate more, nope, its just a nonsense slur, and completely ridiculous, but i think like any nonsense slur it does serve to justify the whole anger that seems to have been built around dj nate, i guess and makes people feel better about the stuff you prefer i guess, and i prefer to an extent too, although nate's take on juke has a special feeling that the older guys can't do cos they're not teens.

Bitter idm fans will hate anything that shatters their illusion of superiority, and hate on it, they did when jungle came around lol, they're sillly, uptight and worth ignoring only.

I think Dj nate is gettting attention as people found him on youtube as his profile is big there and folk like his tracks, and juke is pretty insular really, cds in chicago a few vinyl releases that never really make it beyond the big chicago distributors etc, not much going on outside of 312.

Funny thing is i think i first read about him on your blog, where you seem to have a love hate relationship with him or maybe it was this http://www.sashafrerejones.com/2007/08/juke_box.html

Everyone is getting the attention too now though, you know from white people like you and me, black people, mixed race people, chinese, samoans, red head irish etc, even arabs ;)
